Project activities and outputs

During the 36-month project, the following activities will be carried out to support regions in their efforts to meet the challenge of climate change and to achieve their goal of moving towards low-carbon economies:

  • A baseline assessment of the situation in the partner regions in terms of low-carbon economies, with the objective of defining the characteristics of a climate confident region.
  • A set of criteria and indicators with a focus on the characteristics of a low-carbon economy.
  • A macroeconomic analysis of three partner regions (Burgenland, Cornwall and Marche) in order to identify the structural changes required for regions to achieve low-carbon status.
  • An SEA/SA discussion paper on the use of strategic environmental assessment (SEA) and sustainability assessment (SA) as tools for climate change integration and as monitoring systems for regional development programmes.
  • A methodological handbook, including a collection of relevant best practices, measures and tools from across the partnership.
  • Three capacity-building seminars to disseminate the results and findings of the project activities.
  • Pilot actions to transfer experience in stimulating climate change mitigation and adaptation and the development model of a low-carbon region.

Working groups have been or will be set up by the partnership for the six key tasks. The working groups will each meet two or three times for a total of 14 meetings, and will report regularly to the Steering Committee to ensure that all partners are involved in all of the tasks.
